'Practical Concerns Affecting Foreign Litigants in the U.S. Courts and How U.S. Political Issues Affect the Court System'

Practical concerns that affect foreign litigants in U.S. courts, including:

  • How does one decide which court is the right one to resolve a particular dispute? and
  • How do political influences affect the outcome of court cases and the selection of judges?

Presented by Casey A. Kniser and Eric H. Chadwick, Partners at Patterson Thuente LL.P., Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Eric Chadwick has been litigating civil cases in state and federal courts throughout the U.S. since the mid 1990s. He has represented large companies and individuals in a wide range of disputes and is familiar with the kinds of challenges faced by litigants in U.S. courts, both as plaintiffs and defendants.

In addition to his duties as CFO at Patterson Thuente, Eric Chadwick also manages the firm's litigation department and takes part in the firm's post-issuance proceedings practice.

Casey Kniser was a prosecutor in military and federal criminal cases for four years in the 1990s while serving in the U.S. Navy.

After completing military service in 1999, he has been representing clients in federal courts, mainly in connection with intellectual-property disputes.

As one of Patterson Thuente's key litigators, Casey Kniser brings to the role a wealth of experience in dealing with difficult multi-party cases. In addition, he participated in criminal investigations in conjunction with NCIS agents and provided legal advice to commanding officers of fighter-jet squadrons at the Naval Air Station Ocean in Virginia Beach.
