Objectives of the Course:
The course will cover an overview of United States Immigration Law, including visa classifications, asylum, removal and deportation proceedings, and policy concerns. The course will focus on practical considerations for applying for a United States visa and practicing American Immigration Law in Russia. The course will include guest lectures from immigration practitioners in Russia and United States officials working in the immigration field in Moscow. The instructor, Robert Doughten, currently works as a consular officer at the United States Embassy in Moscow and was formerly employed by the Department of Justice at the New York and Los Angeles Immigration Courts.
